Born in 1910 in Salt Lake City. Baptized in the Salt Lake Tabernacle. Being the oldest girl, helped a great deal with younger siblings. In school, was in the same class as Gordon B. Hinckley. As a teenager, loved to talk long walks with father and loved to play the saxophone and the ukelele. Very active in Mutual - won all of the awards possible. Moved to Los Angeles at age 15 in 1925. Taught a Book of Mormon Sunday School class at age 16. Worked at the department store JJ Newberry's from age 17 to 19. Married in 1930, after serious fasting and praying to see if she should marry John Trease, then a nonmember. To Ohio to leave on the Trease farm in 1930; big change from the city - to electricity, indoor plumbing, etc. Everyone in Wadsworth that Johnny Trease had "married a Mormon girl". Won many friends for the Church there. Sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1931. Demanding life on the farm, perhaps canning all day and then making clothes for the children at night. In 1949 moved to Southern California, then to Idaho for a year 1950-51, then back to S CA. Moved to Turlock in 1954 and lived there until 1960. Very happy time; very active in the Church, including teaching in different organizations and organizing many fundraising dinners. Able to make many visits to see children and grandchildren. To Utah in 1960, and had a home built in Springville in 1961. Spent much time caring for her mother before mother's death in 1965. A charter member of the Springville Senior Citizens, has served as secretary for more than 25 years. Has been a widow since John's death in 1967. Some of her hobbies and skills include cooking, crafts (copper and leather work, ceramics, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and quilting), and sports (billiards and bowling).
