Born 1828 in Michigan. One journal indicates that he came among the Mormons in Iowa because he heard that it was easy to get a Mormon woman. Married at least once prior to 1856 when age 28 married Laura Shimer, who had left Edward Hunter, the Presiding Bishop of the Church. Only married to Laura a few months when he left her in early 1857 to go to California, after finding out that she was expecting. In a mining town in Nevada in the 1870 census. According to family tradition, would come to Utah occasionally to visit the children he had sired. In Silver Reef, a Utah mining town, in 1880. Died in 1906 at the age of 76 in the small mining town of Searchlight, NV.
