Born 1822 in Manchester, NY (same town as Joseph Smith's home). Mother died when two years old. To Michigan by 1830. To Nauvoo (probably baptized already) by about 1840. Married in 1845 at age 19. Endowed 1846 in Nauvoo. Among first to leave Nauvoo in 1846. To SLC by Sep 1847. Spent winter of 1847 in "Old Fort". Early crops almost devastated by crickets. To Farmington in 1849. Helped build most of first public and Church buildings in Farmington. In Echo Canyon War; in charge of cattle seized by Lot Smith. When Saints went South, left behind to help burn homes. Missionary to Iron Co., 1851. Called to help with Indian troubles in Parowan; saved some Indian children from death; later help raise them. Member of first choir and first town band in Farmington. In 1886, moved to Lewiston. Moved 1908 to Centerville. In several choirs. One other wife. Died in 1913 at age 90 in Centerville, UT. Buried in Farmington, UT.
