He was born in 1796 in Shropshire, England, on border with Wales. She was born in 1804 in Montgomeryshire, Wales. Married at age 30 in 1827. Mother of nine children (four boys and five girls) born between 1827 and 1848. Joined the Church about 1847. Emigrated from England aboard the "Hartley" in 1849. After death of wife and son on the Mississippi, a discouraged Thomas, left with eight children (the youngest being just one year old) did not cross the plains, but settled first near Savannah in NW Missouri. In 1854 moved to Doniphan County in newly-opened Kansas. In 1868 he joined the RLDS Church, where he was quite active, and tried to persuade his son Thomas (now in Utah) to leave the LDS Church. He died in 1891 at age 95 in Doniphan County, KS.
