Born August 1857. Father Gilbert Smith left Alonzo's mother soon after he found that she was expecting. Apparently raised in the household of Edward Hunter, the Presiding Bishop of the Church. Married at age 22 in 1880; not sealed in the temple until 1914. Apparently not baptized until he was in his twenties. Moved to American Fork about 1886, where he was a prominent sheepherder for many years. Moved to Salt Lake around 1900, where he was a teamster. Died in 1944 at age 86 in Magna, UT.
