Think of an interesting word root, like *hand*, *room*, *sick*, *b*nd*, etc. Use the EEBO-LION corpus and the TIME Corpus to find which words with this root are used in the different centuries (EEBO-LION) and the different decades from the 1900s (TIME). Make sure that you allow for spelling variants. What trends do you find? Has the overall frequency of the root increased or decreased over time. What types of words drop out over time, and which types of word arise over time? |
